Terms
The terms of using Short List Speakers.
Written to be read. If you book through the site or list on it, these are the rules on both sides.
Updated October 19, 2026. These terms are between you and At The Helm, Corporation, doing business as Short List Speakers ("Short List Speakers," "we").
What this is.
Short List Speakers is a speaker directory. Speakers publish listings that follow our Disclosure Standard. Organizers browse profiles and send requests to our team, who review them and coordinate next steps. We collect and publish feedback from organizers who have booked a speaker. We are not a bureau or an agent, and we are not a party to any booking or to any purchase of a speaker's books. Availability, fees, the contract, payment, and all other booking details are agreed directly between the organizer and the speaker.
For organizers.
- Searching the directory is free, with no signup. Short List requests are free during our launch. We may introduce fees for optional services, such as curated short lists or booking support. We will tell you the fee before you request the service.
- A listing is the speaker's own statement of their terms. We hold speakers to the Disclosure Standard, and we update listings when we learn something needs updating, but we do not guarantee that any listing is accurate or that any speaker will accept a request.
- An offering may show a fixed fee or require a custom quote. Confirm the session scope, what is included, travel, and the total cost directly with the speaker before agreeing to a booking.
- When you give us feedback after a booking, you are giving an honest account of your own experience. Your rating and the qualities you pick always count toward the speaker's rating and badge. You choose how we credit your comment: with your name, title, and organization; with your title and organization; with your organization only; or not at all, in which case we don't publish it. Anything you mark private stays between you and us.
For speakers.
- Accuracy. Everything on your listing is true and current, and you update it when it changes. You may not list on behalf of someone else without their permission.
- Fees and custom quotes. For each offering, publish a fixed fee or clearly mark it as requiring a custom quote. Describe what is included and any extra costs. Keep your information current, and agree the final scope and total cost directly with the organizer.
- Your account. You get an account to manage your listing. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with it.
- Agents. An agent may manage a speaker's listing under the same rules, and the speaker remains responsible for it.
Plans and prices.
A listing is free. Verified is $99 a month or $999 a year, plus any sales tax we are required to collect. Both plans include the organizer reviews we collect, placement ahead of Listed speakers in the directory, your availability on your profile, and every feature in your account. The Annual plan also makes you eligible to be featured in The Short List for Organizers and on The Short List Live, and it carries the inquiry guarantee below. Featuring is eligibility, not a promise. We feature Verified Annual speakers, including Shortlisted speakers on Annual, as fits come up. Compare plans.
We sometimes grant a complimentary Verified period. It carries the same features, nothing renews on its own, and the inquiry guarantee does not apply.
Badges.
Payment does not buy a badge. Verified means an active plan and at least three organizer reviews from separate engagements. Shortlisted means an active plan and at least ten. Until your third review arrives, your listing shows a Verified pending label, not the Verified badge, and you keep every plan feature.
Renewal and cancellation.
Your plan starts when your payment is confirmed. It renews automatically, each month on Monthly and each year on Annual, on the payment method you gave us, until you cancel. Cancel the renewal any time before it from your account or from the link in your receipt. Your plan stays active through the period you paid for.
Refunds.
If we do not publish your listing, we refund you in full. Once your listing is published, fees are not refundable, including after a renewal has been charged. Published means your listing is live on the site, whatever stage your reviews are at.
The inquiry guarantee, Annual only.
If your listing is published and no genuine, relevant inquiry reaches you during a paid year on the Annual plan, your next year is on us, along with a review of your profile. We judge relevance against the topics and formats on your listing. The guarantee applies to paid years only.
Reviews.
On either plan, you give us the names and contact details of organizers who have booked you, and you authorize us to contact them. We decide which to contact, and we contact each one no more than three times. You cannot select, edit, or remove what they say. If you have a concern about a review, you can ask us to take another look, and we will follow up with you and keep a record of the outcome.
When a plan ends.
If a renewal payment fails, we retry it and email you. If it is still unpaid after seven days, your plan features pause until payment succeeds. When a plan ends, by cancellation or non-payment, your profile stays in the directory as Listed: no badge, no star rating, no placement, no availability, and no plan features in your account. The free features of your account remain. Your reviews stay on file and count again if you return to a plan.
Removing a listing.
You may pause or remove your listing at any time from your account, or by writing to us. We may remove a listing that breaks these terms, and we tell you why.
Text messages.
Added September 22, 2026. Two optional text message programs, Short List Speakers Text Alerts and Short List Speakers Account Texts, each have their own terms: the Text Alerts Terms and the Account Texts Terms. They apply only if you opt in to that program. Neither program is a condition of browsing, requesting a speaker, applying, or being listed. Our SMS Privacy Notice explains how we handle mobile numbers.
Feedback and corrections.
Feedback is collected by us from organizers, never written by speakers. We publish a comment as given, when the organizer allows it, and we do not edit it beyond removing personal information about third parties. Anyone who notices something on a listing that needs updating can tell us. We correct it and keep the correction on record.
Independence.
Short List Speakers is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization), Women Presidents Organization (WPO), Vistage Worldwide, The Alternative Board (TAB), or TIGER 21. Organization names on this site describe the groups our listed speakers serve.
Content and use.
The listings, feedback, and text on this site are ours or our speakers' and are published for the purpose of finding and booking speakers. You may not copy the directory, scrape it, or republish it. A speaker keeps the rights to their own photograph and text and gives us permission to publish them on the listing.
Limits.
We provide the site as it is. We are not responsible for a speaker's performance, an organizer's conduct, or anything that happens at an event. Our total liability to you for anything arising from this site is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.
Changes and law.
If we change these terms, we change the date at the top and email everyone with a listing or on our lists before a material change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Questions go to connect@shortlistspeakers.com.
