On the Shoulders of Women
Custom quote
Keynote·Under 1 hour·In person
For entrepreneurs and business owners, CEOs and senior executives, executive peer groups, next-generation leaders, general corporate audiences, and boards and nonprofit leaders.
Through personal storytelling, research, and the history of often-unrecognized women, Megan weaves together the lives of her Appalachian ancestors with a larger conversation about leadership, community care, and our responsibility to one another. Through guided reflection and audience participation, attendees will consider the women whose courage and sacrifices made their own lives possible, question whose contributions we continue to overlook, and identify how they can become the shoulders on which future generations will stand.
A deeper connection to the women whose shoulders they stand on, through a personal reflection that helps participants recognize the courage, sacrifices, and everyday acts of leadership that made their own lives possible.
A challenge to reconsider whose voices and contributions we recognize, identifying the women whose work, wisdom, and influence are too often overlooked in our workplaces, families, and communities.
A personal commitment to carrying women's legacies forward, identifying one intentional way to advocate for others, create opportunity, or strengthen their communities for future generations.
I'm Megan Gerber, a speaker, facilitator, and executive coach who believes the future of leadership looks more like our grandmothers than our CEOs.
Before studying leadership, I practiced it as a teacher, nonprofit founder, and entrepreneur. I hold a Master's in Human Dimensions of Organizations from the University of Texas at Austin.
My work explores the messy, complicated reality of being human. Through storytelling, research, humor, and honest conversation, I invite people to get curious about themselves, question their assumptions, and consider what it really means to take responsibility for our impact on one another.
