Short List Speakers
SMS Privacy Notice

How we handle your mobile number and text-message consent.

A supplemental notice for our two optional text-message programs. It adds to our Privacy Policy; it does not replace it.

Effective October 1, 2026. Issued by At The Helm, Corporation, dba Short List Speakers, which operates shortlistspeakers.com. Questions go to connect@shortlistspeakers.com.

The programs this notice covers.

Two optional programs, each with its own sign-up page and its own terms: Short List Speakers Text Alerts, marketing texts for organizers about The Short List newsletter and speaker previews, and for speakers about the speaker newsletter and chances to be featured as a speaker (Text Alerts Terms), and Short List Speakers Account Texts, account and service texts for organizers and speakers about their speaker request, application, or listing (Account Texts Terms). Neither program is required to use the directory, to apply or be listed as a speaker, or to request a speaker. Neither program is a condition of any purchase. Texts from either program are sent in addition to email, never instead of it.

What we collect when you opt in.

Your name and email address, the mobile number you give us, and a record of the consent you gave: which program, the exact wording of the consent box you checked and its version, the date and time, and the page you used. If you later reply to a text (for example STOP or HELP), we keep that reply as part of the record. If you leave the consent box unchecked, no text-message consent is recorded and nothing about any earlier choice changes.

How sign-up works.

Checking a box on our site signs you up for that program at that exact number. If you opt out and later sign up again, only a new sign-up made after the opt-out counts. A changed mobile number needs a fresh sign-up.

Who handles your number.

Short List Speakers is operated by At The Helm, Corporation, dba Short List Speakers. Our website, contact records, and text messaging run on HubSpot, and the texts themselves are delivered through the messaging providers and aggregators HubSpot uses. They process your number only to deliver the messages and to honor STOP and HELP replies.

What we never do with it.

We do not sell your mobile number. We do not share your mobile number or your text-message opt-in consent with any third party for their marketing. Newsletter sponsors, if any, never receive subscriber names, email addresses, or mobile numbers. All other categories of sharing described in our Privacy Policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, other than the aggregators and providers of the text-message service.

Frequency and cost.

Text Alerts: message frequency varies, up to 2 messages a month. Account Texts: message frequency varies with activity on your speaker request, application, or listing. Message and data rates may apply; we do not charge for texts, but your carrier may.

How to stop, and what we keep afterwards.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out of that program, or email us. When you opt out, we keep a suppression record (your number, the program, and the date) for as long as we send that kind of message, so that we do not text you again. We keep the record of your consent (number, date, page, and wording) for as long as your number is enrolled and for the period we need afterwards to show that consent was given. These records are used only to honor and prove your choices, never for marketing.

Support and your rights.

Reply HELP to any message, or email connect@shortlistspeakers.com. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (we keep the suppression record so your opt-out stays in force), and ask us to stop using it. We answer within 30 days. California residents have these rights in law under the California Consumer Privacy Act; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that Act.

Changes.

If we change this notice, we change the date at the top. For anything material, we tell everyone enrolled in a text program before the change takes effect.
